St Matthews School visits – Thursday 26 June & Thursday 3 July- Please read the poster
We will walk the children up to the school. YOU must pick them up at 12noon from St Matthew’s School
Record of Transfer- (for those children starting school only)
There will be on the noticeboard soon an example of a Record of Transfer form which we are obliged to complete on every child leaving playgroup this Summer. A photocopy of the Record of Transfer form will then be sent direct to your child’s school and you will receive the original copy of the form to keep. The form will only be sent to the school if you, the parent/career, agree to this and sign the form to this effect, adding any comments you wish. For you also to keep will be The Foundation Stage, Areas of Learning and Early Learning Goals booklet, which your child’s keyworker has been continually recording and updating with your child’s progress through observations since your child began at playgroup. The book is designed to cover the Foundation Stage which continues up to your child finishes reception, so obviously not every aspect will be completed, just what we have covered at playgroup and what we have observed your child doing.
Humpty Dumpty Club – Thursday 5 June 2008 – We are having a visit from the Humpty Dumpty club during the morning.
Visit from Library – Monday 9 June 2008
We will be having a visit from a librarian; they will be bringing activities, books and games relating to our theme of dinosaurs.
Bring a Bear to Pre-school Day – Wednesday 11 June 2008
Paddington Bear is 50 years old! We are celebrating Paddington Bears birthday by having a fundraising event. Please bring a bear in, plus £1 and we will be having a picnic. We are also having a raffle £1 a strip of 5 tickets to win a Paddington Bear. All money raised will go towards vulnerable babies.
If you have not paid yet or not advised Sandra if your child is going with a parent/carer, please do so asap. We will be meeting at playgroup for the usual time 9.15am to leave at 9.30am. The coach will be parked outside St Matthew’s School and will return at approximately 2.00pm. Please remember a packed lunch and appropriate clothing, raincoat/wellies/suncream/sunhat depending on the weather. For those not going on the trip, playgroup will be open for 1 session from 10am to 12.30pm, please let Sandra know. There will be no afternoon session.
Beach Day – Wednesday 16 July
We will be having a seaside fun Beach Day on Wednesday 16 July. The children will have the opportunity to play in sand on a tarpaulin sheet in the main hall with buckets and spades, they will be able to make sandwiches for their picnic at the seaside (ham or jam), and of course no day out at the beach would be complete without an ice cream! Please advise us regarding any allergies your child has, that you have not already informed us of.
Graduation Day - Wednesday 23 July at 11.30am
On the last day of term, we will be saying goodbye to all our children going to school with a Graduation Ceremony, all family will be welcome. There will be no afternoon session.
Snacktime
Snacktime has been reviewed and following government legislation involving children and healthy eating – we will no longer be providing squash and biscuits. The children will have a choice of either - water or milk, plus crackers, breadsticks, cheese, vegetables and fruit. We would still be very grateful for your continued donations, but swap the biscuits for crackers. Thank you!
Would you like this newsletter emailed to you?
In September, we are thinking of emailing our newsletter out to save money and for obvious environment reasons; a copy is always available on our website but a hard copy will be available to you if you are not on the internet, plus a copy on the notice board.
